Buying property overseas comes with a lot of questions. We have compiled an overview of the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered here or you would like a personalised answer, please feel free to contact us.

What is important when selecting my dream property?

The geographical situation of the property is very important. How far is the nearest airport? How frequently are your flights scheduled? What about the presence of public services near your property? Is it important for you to have a supermarket, pharmacy and other health services within walking distance? Don’t forget about the orientation of the property towards the sun and the neighbourhood the property is situated in. While a property on top of the hill has the advantage of stunning views, you should remember that access to the property is most likely dependent on a car and requires driving up and down on a daily basis. If you plan to rent the property, remember your guests will be dependent on a car as well!

Is this a good time for buying property?

Yes, it is a great time for buying property in Spain. Property prices have fallen significantly since the financial crisis. At this moment the real estate market on the Costa Blanca is recuperating just as in other parts of Spain and Europe as a whole. On top of this, investing in Spanish real estate at the moment is a smart choice because of the very low savings rate that banks are now offering to their clients. By investing in Spanish real estate, you benefit from your property’s value increasing over time, enjoying your property while you are in Spain and receiving rental income when you are away.

What are temperatures like throughout the year?

The Costa Blanca is well known for its desirable climate. Mild winters and warm summers are typical on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. In the table the average temperature during the year is shown.

Your home and the surrounding area are equally important when deciding what property to invest in. This includes the available amenities that are situated close to your property, distances to the airport, the location of the beach or the availability of a nearby golf course. To help you to get started, we have provided an overview of amenities that are close to a property that you select on our website. By clicking on the tab “In the area” you can discover the distance to all facilities in the area. Of course you can always contact us if you have specific questions about a certain area.

Do I need to be present in person when signing the title deeds at the notary?

Yes. If you are married without a prenuptial agreement, your wife or spouse must be present as well. If it is for some reason impossible for you or your partner to sign the deeds in person, there is the possibility of getting the title deeds signed by a third person. In this particular situation you will need a power of attorney. It is quite common in Spain for such formalities to be done by a power of attorney. A power of attorney can also assist with opening bank accounts or contracting insurances.
